Get Up To $5,000 For Buying In DC Congress Extends DC Tax Credit

If you purchased a home in Washington, DC you may be eligible
to receive a tax credit up to $5,000.
There are restrictions to this credit. If your income exceeds the
limit, your credit may be reduced or eliminated. The credit is only
for your primary residence.
The credit is applied to your Federal Income Taxes. To claim the
credit, simply complete IRS Form Number 8859 and file it with your
tax return with the IRS.
Note: You may not claim this credit and the federal tax credit
which may allow a buyer to take a credit of 1% of the sales price
up to $8,000. You may only take one or the other.
If you purchased a home in the District in a year other than the
current tax year and you did not claim the credit, you may still be
eligible. You will need to file an amended Federal Income Tax
Return. Check with your tax advisor, financial planner, and/or
CPA.
